Description
The construction of this building was ordered under the rule of Ferdinand VI, by the eminent judge Isidoro Gil de Jaz (who came to Oviedo from 1749 to 1755). It was designed to serve as a hospital. The plans were drawn by the Asturian architect Pedro Antonio Menéndez. The main façade was completed in stonework in 1754 and the finishing touches were added to it in the form of an elaborate Spanish coat of arms. The one present to this day is a rennovated version of the original, made in 1958. Also completed in 1754 was the portico with its 7 semicircular arches. Use arrows to view imagesAmenities Available
